General rental terms & conditions

1. Insurance and liability

All vehicles from MAP Car Rental are rented with all-risk rental insurance (WA Casco+). In Curaçao a deductible of €500 applies per damage incident. The renter has the option to reduce the deductible to €0 for €13.50 per day (recommended). If you rent the car for less than 7 days, the deductible can be reduced for a total amount of €94.50.

The insurance becomes void when the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, commits a speeding violation or drives recklessly. In these cases the renter is fully liable for all resulting damages and costs.

Note: damage to tires and loss of the car keys are not covered by this insurance. Tire insurance (recommended): damage caused by nails or screws will not be charged. Price: €3.00 per day.

2. Driver

The minimum age of the driver is 23 years. The driver must hold a valid category B driver’s license. Foreign driver’s licenses are accepted as long as they are valid and clearly readable for the entire rental period.

3. Rental period and payment

The minimum rental period is 4 days. No credit card is required to rent a vehicle. However, we require a €50 deposit as a guarantee for refueling the vehicle and returning it in a clean condition. All vehicles are rented with unlimited mileage.

4. Delivery and return

The vehicle will be delivered and collected free of charge at a pre-arranged location for rental periods of 7 days or longer. For rental periods of less than 7 days, a €20 delivery and collection fee will be charged.

The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank of fuel. If the vehicle is not returned with a full tank, MAP Car Rental reserves the right to charge a €30 service fee, in addition to the cost of the missing fuel.

The vehicle must be returned in a clean condition. If not, MAP Car Rental reserves the right to charge a €20 cleaning fee.

5. Breakdown and damage

In case of damage or an accident, the renter must contact MAP Car Rental immediately (+599 9 683 8026) and not move the vehicle. In case of breakdown, the renter can contact the 24/7 roadside assistance service in Curaçao: emergency number 9242, phone +5999 465 0895.

6. Parking

The renter is required to park the vehicle in a safe location during evening and nighttime hours: a secured property, a location supervised by a security guard, or another demonstrably safe and reliable parking location. If the vehicle is not parked in a safe location during evening and nighttime hours and this results in damage, theft, burglary, or any other form of loss, the renter shall be fully liable for all resulting costs, damages, and losses.

7. Cancellation

Reservations can be changed or cancelled free of charge up to at least 48 hours before arrival.
